Children's Yoga Teacher Training
OVERVIEW
About this course
There is no greater joy or more rewarding career anywhere than being a teacher of yoga. This is especially true when the lives you are impacting are those of children. In our world today, we can make a significant difference in dramatically impacting violence, hatred, anger, poverty, aggressive behavior, depression, school drop-outs, alcohol and drug addiction, and all other undesirable behaviours and states of mind simply by teaching generations of children the life-impacting principles that will assist them to develop high self-esteem and design their lives with a positive expectation for the future. The Health Institute Australasia’s Shanti Yoga for Children program is a wonderful way to have a positive, peaceful, loving impact on our world. It teaches fitness, health and life skills through yoga.
The yoga-based education program benefits children, parents and teachers. It provides simple yoga practices designed for the classroom and is at three developmental levels and addresses multiple intelligences. It enhances health, concentration, relaxation and learning and is a wonderful tool for effective class management.
If you are a mum, teacher, childcare provider or someone who cares deeply about the wellbeing of the children in your life, and find yourself needing new ideas, inspiration and enthusiasm, we have good news for you. Research has proven that consistent yoga practice facilitates children in staying grounded and helps them navigate their way through daily stress.
This is a 6-month, 200-hour foundational course. It is designed for you to teach children from ages 5-11.

YOU WILL LEARN
- The fundamentals of the Shanti Yoga way of teaching and a whole new array of creative ways to connect with children.
- How to get in touch with your own body’s love of movement, wisdom and creativity.
- To experience new ways for you and your children to access inner happiness.
- How to create, design and plan classes with passion and enthusiasm.
- How to include all the components that make up a great children’s yoga class, including yoga postures, movements and exercises (asanas), yogic breathing (pranayama), meditation (antar mouna) and relaxation (nidra).
- How to engage, inspire, teach and deliver children’s yoga classes that leave each and every child feeling happy, empowered and believing in themselves
This leads to improved: concentration, balance, co-ordination, body mechanics, trunk stability, postural stability, self esteem, self confidence, social interaction, health & wellbeing, relaxation, head control, fun, and more.
TUTORIALS OF INITIAL TRAINING
The concept, philosophy, methods and training objectives of Shanti Yoga for Children is taught during your initial face-to-face intensive, consisting 4 sessions of fun, laughter, love, learning and inspiration that will help you connect in new and exciting ways with the child within you.You will leave with tools, practices and fun techniques to begin using with children immediately. You will then serve your apprenticeship, with home study and practicum designed to be completed in 6-12 months.
The comprehensive training consists of:

Be inspired to be a more effective parent, teacher and role model. Learn how to create, design and plan classes with passion and enthusiasm.

HOME-STUDY PRACTICUM SUPPORT
You will leave your initial training with tools, practices, and fun techniques to begin using with children immediately. You will then serve your apprenticeship, with home study (online) and practicum designed to be completed in 6-12 months. For your practicum, you will need to teach one class per week for a duration of 10 weeks (1 term) free of charge, before your assessment and certification.REVISION TRAINING
Upon completion of your home study practicum, you can:- Attend a second residential weekend of revision, culmination, and integration
- Present a practicum workshop
- Be awarded your certification
ASSESSMENT
The opportunity to complete assessment activities using role-play and simulations during the second non-residential weekend workshop.CERTIFICATION
Certification is optional, at no extra cost. To achieve certification, you are required to:- Pay for “Teach Yoga to Children” training course in full
- Provide evidence of 6 months’ practicum teaching children in the appropriate age group
- Answer a 50 question multiple choice test. (Most people who take the test pass on their first try. You’ll have up to 6 chances to achieve a passing grade. There is a $250 exam fee for each submission after the first test submission which is free.)
- Present a practicum workshop.
