GENERAL QUESTIONS
1Why do I need to provide personal information to enrol or apply for a course?
It is important that you provide accurate information as this may appear in Statements of Participation or Results Statements. We may contact you to inform you about course cancellations, change of venue and we might use your contact details to notify you about upcoming courses and special announcements and offers. Any personal or financial details which you provide are used to process enrolments and course enquiries. All information is protected by Health Institute Australasia’s secure server. HIA is not involved in selling, trading or alternative use of your personal information. HIA will not sell, rent or share your information with any unauthorised third party.
2I need to change my personal details. How do I do that?
Please advise us if you move house, change your mobile number or email address. Any changes to personal details must be advised in writing to the Health Institute Australasia. Failure to notify us will result in important information, such as Result Statements, not being received. You can email any changes to us at admin@healthinstitute.edu.au. Please note: original documentary evidence should accompany notification of change of name only.
3What is included in the course fee ? Is GST included?
Unless stated, Health Institute Australasia short and accredited courses do not attract GST. The ‘what is in my course package’ on each of the courses pages on the Health Institute Australasia’s website will indicate whether course materials (if any) are included in the course fee or are an additional cost. If any catering and accommodation is included such as at yoga and Ayurveda retreats, this will also be indicated in the course flyer. There are two fees available for accredited courses, namely domestic and international. Local fees apply to Australian and New Zealand citizens and permanent residents. International fees apply to those on a student visa, which must be valid for the duration of the course. Short course fees are the same for both domestic and international students.
4Who should attend a Health Institute Australasia course?
Health Institute Australasia short courses are open to everyone. Some of our more advanced short courses may require a certain level of knowledge. Please feel free to contact us for further details to see if the course is appropriate for your needs.

Health Institute Australasia accredited courses are open to anyone with IELTS proficiency in English of 5.5 or equivalent. However some higher level courses such as Diploma or Advanced Diploma may have prerequisites while the Certificate IV courses require no previous knowledge on the subject. Please feel free to contact us for further details to see if the course is appropriate for your needs.
5How are short courses different to accredited courses?
A Health Institute Australia short course offers you the opportunity to quickly enhance your professional skills, increase general knowledge in a chosen area or simply nurture a new talent or hobby. Short courses run throughout the year. On completion, participants are awarded an Health Institute Australasia Statement of Participation.

A Health Institute Australasia accredited course is nationally recognised and can provide you with a nationally recognised qualification or Statement of Attainment following its full or partial completion.

An accredited course:
  • meets industry, enterprise or community needs
  • provides appropriate competency outcomes and a satisfactory basis for assessment
  • meets national quality assurance requirements
  • is aligned to the appropriate level of the Australian Qualifications Framework where it leads to a qualification.

8Do you provide a payment plan?
Yes. Payment plans are available upon request. You can pay the full fee upfront, or you can pay by monthly or quarterly instalments. Please contact us to discuss.
9What forms of payment do you accept? Are my payments secure?
WE accept direct bank deposit, Visa or Mastercard (EFTPOS in person) or through our website, and PayPal.

We never keep your credit card information. Our preferred payment gateway is PayPal, being one of the world's leading platforms for processing payments and known for their security and encryption.
10How long does my visa take to process?
The Australian government processes your visa and application processing times vary.

In average a visa lodged outside Australia takes:
3 weeks for Assessment level 1 and 2
3 months+ for Assessment level 3
Please note that these times are estimates only, and delays may occur in peak times, or due to other circumstances.

For more information about the normal visa processing arrangement and visa requirements, please refer to the DIBP Student Visa Chooser - https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/getting-a-visa/visa-finder/study
11What is a COE or Confirmation of Enrolment?
A COE is a ‘Confirmation of Enrolment’. International students need a COE to apply for a student visa.

The process for obtaining a COE is as follows:
1. The student must send their completed Application for Enrolment’ to Health Institute Australasia, with the non-refundable enrolment fee.

2. If the student fits the eligibility criteria as outlined in HIA’s student manual, HIA will then provide a ‘Letter of Offer’ (LOO), outlining their proposed course details, dates, fees, payment plan, etc.

3. The student must read and sign the LOO, which now becomes a ‘Letter of Offer and Agreement’ and send it to HIA, together with their initial course deposit.

4. HIA will now send the student their COE which then allows the student to obtain a Unique Student Identifier code (USI) that can be validated by the Department of Immigration.

In summary, the student needs to be enrolled and have paid their deposit to receive a CoE for their visa application. The CoE is generated by us, Health Institute Australasia, on the Australian Government student management system called PRISMS: prisms.education.gov.au

SHORT COURSE QUESTIONS
1As a short course student, can I get a Health Institute Australasia student card?
No. Enrolling into a short (non accredited) course does not make you eligible for a Health Institute Australasia student card.
2What type of recognition or accreditation will I receive after completing the short course?
Upon completion of a non-accredited short course at HIA, you will be rewarded with a Statement of Participation. Most HIA short courses are non-accredited, with a few exceptions. Where appropriate, you will be awarded with a Statement of Attainment.
3What happens if I cannot attend my short course?
Before enrolling into a Health Institute Australasia short course, please ensure that you are aware of the Short Course Terms and Conditions. Find them here.

If you are unable to attend your short course, make sure that you advise us as early as possible to avoid transfer or cancellation fees.

If you cancel more than 5 full working days before course commencement you may:
  • transfer to another date or course at no charge
  • cancel your booking and organise a full refund.
If you cancel 5 working days or less before course commencement you may:
  • transfer to another date or course and a 10% transfer fee applies
  • cancel your booking (a 50% cancellation fee applies).

In short courses where prerequisites do not apply, you may send a substitute in your place. Please advise us prior to course commencement.
4My short course has been cancelled or rescheduled. What should I do?
We recognise that your decision to attend a short course is an important one and that finding the time to participate isn’t easy. It can be inconvenient if we have to reschedule or cancel a short course so we endeavour to notify you as soon as possible.

If your course is rescheduled and the new dates are suitable, you do not need to take any action. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled dates, contact us as soon as possible to finalise alternatives.

If your course is cancelled, you will need to contact us to finalise alternatives. You can transfer to the next available date for your course, transfer to a different short course or arrange a full refund.
5Are there attendance requirements?
For certain courses, upon satisfactory completion of course requirements, and a minimum of 80% attendance, students will be issued a Health Institute Australasia Statement of Attendance. For courses that contain an accredited unit, 100% attendance is required and students will be issued a Statement of Attainment once a successful pass mark is recorded. Please be aware that pre-requisites may be necessary. Please enquire.
